About Taylor Blaine Art

Taylor Clendennen attended Baylor University where she pursued her BFA in Studio Art with a minor in Art History. After Baylor, she attended the University of Houston Downtown to learn the business side of the fine arts field and received her BA in Fine Arts Administration. 

Since 2009, Taylor has been working as a full time artist in her hometown of Houston, TX.

In addition to creating art, she has also curated art auctions for local non-profits, judged numerous juried art contests in Texas, and has been invited to local High Schools to speak about the importance of art education and what opportunities there are for students interested in artistic careers.

Taylor Clendennen's work mainly consists of Encaustic Wax and Mixed Media. 

For each artwork, multiple layers of colored Encaustic Wax is layered on a wood panel. Original drawings or photos by the artist are then transferred to the panel on top of the wax. She then carves through the wax to reveal the colors layered below and create texture. From then on, various other mediums are incorporated, such as pan pastel, metallic powdered pigment, alcohol ink, and more stenciled wax.
